Currently, excessive sodium consumption is a major risk factor for non-communicable diseases (NCDs), such as hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and chronic kidney disease. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the recommended maximum daily sodium intake is 2,000 milligrams.
